January 2, 2006

Welcome to our new website and the beginning of a New Year. Seems only yesterday we were celebrating the millennium and here we are entering 2006. A new year brings new challenges and for me, keeping this page updated will be one of mine.

Our Pictou group, the Hector Rug Hookers start meeting again on January 9th, 2006. We meet every Monday (except holidays and storm days) from 9:30am to 1:00pm at the New Horizons Seniors Club here in Pictou. If you are in the area, drop in and hook with us. The building is easy to find, it is right behind the shop.

There are several other groups which meet in Pictou County and Antigonish area so if you are looking for a group to meet with, contact us and we will do our best to give you day, time and locations.

As I am now Past President of the Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia I am hoping to have more time to spend on updating my web page, designing patterns and introducing more of the Bluenose designs to you. I don’t make New Year’s resolutions but that sounds like one, doesn’t it.

We are now offering our catalogue on line. Hopefully, this will be helpful to you. It will certainly make my life easier as getting it printed became difficult once my photo editor and website designer (my daughter, Michelle) moved away. This way, I can email the photos to her and she will clean them up and post them to the website. Thank goodness for technologically savvy children.

New additions to the catalogue this year include more designs by Sylvia Macdonald and Marjorie Judson as well as a line of “Lunenburg Houses” patterns designed by my good friend Helen Serrao of Portugese Cove. We are also working on a line of historic properties here in Pictou County as well as local lighthouse patterns.  I have even started designing more of my own so keep an eye on the catalogue as 2006 should be an interesting year.
